1.Sanchi Stupa Heritage- Sanchi stupa is known as the hub of Buddhism in India. Plus a paradise destination for history and architecture lovers. Enlisted as UNESCO world heritage site it includes lovely motifs and design carved on the Stupa gates. The symbolic depiction of Lord Buddha and thrones with foot prints and wheels are one of the best things to look here for. The timings are 8.30am to 5.30 pm and the entry fee is just between 10-30 rupees. Sanchi stupa is open on all days except tuesdays and other public holidays. Being one of the most popular Buddhist monuments it was built during the era of Mauryan empire. I highly recommend Sanchi Stupa as one of the best places to visit in Bhopal.
2.Taj ul Masjid- Taj ul Masjid is the largest mosque in the country which is around 4,30,000 square feet huge and can accomodate more than 1,70,000 people at a time. It resembles to Jama masjid which is located in old Delhi. With 2 minarets and 3 domes this is a must visit place if you are in Bhopal anytime. We enjoyed the pin-drop silence here and loved observing the parallel structure. You definately get the best pictures here with a vintage background. These places defy itself that Bhopal is a Jewel of MadhyaPradesh.
Bada Talab- It is also called ‘Bhojtal’ and ‘Upper Lake’ overlooked by a huge garden called “Kamla Park”. Built under Raja Bhoj this talab is open on all days and timings are 6 am to 7pm. We also visited the dargah which is situated right on the centre of the talab. The boat may cost you 60-70 rupees per person. Make sure you bargain as there are many looters around the talab who will charge you more.

We also visited Saif Ali Khan’s bungalow few minutes away from Taj ul Masjid which was under renovation. Also do not forget to visit Bhopal’s biggest mall and amusement park called ”People’s Mall”with a multiplex, go-karting, water-park with replicas of 7 wonders of the world placed accurately so you get the best pictures and a memory you cherish for life. Make sure you add these wonderful places in your list when you visit Bhopal.
